The Premier League will not be reduced to 18 teams during the pressure of the calendar, the Chief Executive Officer says

Richard Masters, CEO of the Premier League, insisted that the premiere league will not be reduced to the size of the club by pressing on the growing football calendar.

August August 1, after Chelsea won the European Champions Paris Sain-Jermene and won the new top-flight season on August August 1, after winning the inaugural club World Cup.

It will launch a 11-month campaign of competitive football, ending in the new 48-team World Cup finals of men in the US, Mexico and Canada in June and June and July 2026.

Critics have been constantly on the rise in recent years for what they see as a very busy football schedule.

Manchester City Midfilder and Balon de or winner Rodrey warned last year that the players were “close” to go to the strike due to the increase in the number of games clubs.

The UEFA had an important factor in the decision to scrap the FA Cup in the last term – the Champions League, the Europe League and the Conference League – the expansion of its three continental club competitions.

And France’s League 1 decided to reduce the 2023-24 seasons from 20 to 18 teams, but the masters said that such a movement would not be regenerated in the channel.

“I don’t think we should be forced into that decision,” Masters told the BBC Sport.

“I am for the game growth and for the exciting competitions that can participate in our club – but not at the expense of home football.”

FIFA and Players Union FIFPRo have received masters comments about the potential impact of players’ welfare schedule.

Masters have believed that FIFA did not have the proper consultation process before implementing the club World Cup and World Cup expansion.

“The jury is about the competitiveness of the nature and the schedule and the basic economics, but it is not my job to make the club World Cup success or otherwise,” Masters said.

“It is my job to evaluate whether these new competitions have an impact on home calendar and home competitions, among them.

“The Premier League 380 matches, 20 clubs since 1994. We have not changed the size.

“Now we are starting to regenerate our home calendar on European and global expansion altar.

“We are asking players to play in more matches. There should be a proper dialogue between all the stakeholders about the top of the game, FIFA, and how these things go ahead.

“It is unfortunately lost.”

Chelsea and Manchester City, who participated in the Club World Cup, requested to launch a delay for their domestic campaigns rejected by the Premier League – a decision masters said that it was done for the benefit of fairness.

Masters said, “This is the result of the butterflies of the decision taken beyond our influence of other football bodies of other football bodies,” said Masters.

“When you finish the competition in the middle of July and the players have to provide a three -week break, it is only a week before the season begins.

“It is not added. It makes us unnecessary struggles with our own club. It is not just involved in the club World Cup. The clubs they are playing are, and we should be justified for everyone.”
