Porto’s Champions League-winning captain George Costla, who died at the age of 53 at the Portuguese Club’s training field, is Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Morinho.
Coast, who won the Champions League in the second session, served as the director of the football in the second session for the Portola UEFA Cup Gaurav in 2003 and a year after Morinho’s Champions League. He was rushed to the hospital immediately but could not be saved.
Defender scored 50 matches for the Portugal national team and won more than 500 senior career matches, most of the Porto playing.
Ronaldo paid tribute to his patriots on social media and posted the picture of the Costa with the line “At Semper George Costa”, which translates as ‘forever’ or ‘always’.
Prior to a press conference before his team’s Champions League in the Champions League on Wednesday, Fenarbahus Boss Morinho said: “I am very sad. This is part of my history.
“If he could talk to me now, he would say, ‘Make your press conference, win Mr. Games and games tomorrow – forget about me’.
“I am trying to do my job today and tomorrow and then I cry later.”
Costa won 24 Trophy in Porto, including eight Premira League titles. He was one of the six players to win five Portuguese top-flight leagues championships.
After borrowing in the 2001/2002 season, he played a short spell in England with Charltton th Thaelic, playing 26 matches.
“Both lifetime, both on the pitch and outside, George Coast embodied the values that define FC Porto: a sense of dedication, leadership, passion and victory,” Porto said in a statement. “He left his impression on the generations of fans and became a symbol of Portizo.”
“The legacy of George Costa will always be alive in the memory of all Porto fans. Captain, will never forget you.”
The other two former Porto and Portugal players, Decco and Paype also paid tribute to the players.
Doco called the Coast the “great symbol of Portuguese” and he further said: “It was a honor to share a lot of medals and happiness with you. Your name will be remembered forever. My mourning to the whole family.”
Meanwhile, Paype said: “Your dedication and heritage always lives in the extraordinary history of FC Porto’s victory. Rest in the rest, George Costa.”
