V For revenge There are lies, fantasy work written to reveal the truth. It is not an easy or comfortable truth, but somewhere in it is the truth.
I am tempted to sleep here and say that there is also tonne kung fu, as this is probably the best way to attract as many people as possible to see it. But I will avoid making and stick to the facts. This is not an action, superhero or full science fiction movie. V for vendetta There is an idea. A devastating, uncompromising (a little naive) idea.
Based on the same name comic series written in 1982 by Alan Moore and David Loyd, V for vendetta The story of a close death of England, led by a depressing government and a man known only as V (Hugo Aweing), who decides to destroy it. V is a terrorist and he achieves his goals with murder, intent and blasting things. He flares on stage, covered in dark clothes, hidden behind the guy’s fawkes masks and spilled dialogue, which is so complicated and full of big dollars that it is almost another language.
While London’s abandoned, under the evening of evening, he rescues a Waifish girl accused of fingers, a government attack hungry secret police. The girl is Evey (Natalia Portman), and it’s November 5th, a day that the people of the British will remember.
V picks Eve under his wing as he starts a strategy for destruction of the government. He is a terrorist, but he terrorizes the people. Instead, his goal is to wake them up and give them a chance, while surprising the fear in the center of the Totalitarian Government of England. “If you want to see who is responsible, don’t look for a mirror,” he tells the citizens of the country. “I understand you were afraid,” he says, forgiving them.
It is the people who transfer the hate -led government in the UK to power, and it is the people who have to stop it. “People should not be afraid of their governments,” says V, “governments should be afraid of their people.”
V for vendetta is a visually rich, dark and resonant movie; One who uses the style to transfer the substance under the guise of pure entertainment. The Wachowski Brothers script is an absolutely loyal adjustment of its source material that was customized just as much to update it and properly translate it on the screen. James McTeig’s direction is perfect; He cuts into all the right places and delays for all the right moments. He gives the film a sense of urgency, even if the heroes just hang around the philosophy. Whenever the movie is moving too preaching, he speeds up the pace and comes to something exciting.
Is the film political? Yes, but not always in a way that is typical of any modern political party. After all, it was written in 1982. These are the same political paradoxes that have been suffering from a person for centuries. If you are a British, you will almost certainly find a way to apply it to Keir Starmer or Tony Blair, but it’s just because the film themes are universal.
Hugo weaving is incredibly like V, which works under a stiff, slightly silly mask that completely covers his face, eyes, or anything he could use to convey the slightest emotions. However, somehow V is the most passionate, strongest character of the film.
Hugo uses his own voice and physicality to convey that to ensure uncomfortable, without face creation to electrify life. V calls himself an idea, and when he was played, he is really a very strong idea.
But it is Natalia’s Portman Evey, who becomes the real heart of the movie. V is an unstoppable force; Eve is a real man who has fallen into a deadly uprising. Her conversations with V, not one or two of the bits of the movie, is a Wachowskis scenario driving force. Evey resists a war on the oppression, her mind does not want to say what he has to say from fear and self -preservation. So you too.
There are people who hate this movie: people who do not like to think, are dead in the brain, fools. Referring to the still unseen movie back in the days before its release, one member of a politically minded film forum quickly stated: “You can’t make a film about a terrorist now, not to support bin Laden.” This makes the prevalence of this thinking that make up V for vendetta So worrying.
Sometimes it almost seems that you are looking for something forbidden, for example, you see something you shouldn’t let you see. It is shocking that a movie like this was once actually made. It is even more unbelievable that it was the main Hollywood studio. Would Wachowskis be allowed to do it if they made it now? I doubt it.
It’s fun to accuse Hollywood of activism, but you don’t expect this kind of real movie -making courage from a corporate American or company like Warner Bros. It is a purposeful awkward movie that will affect different people differently depending on what you bring with you.
Yes, V for vendetta is rebellious and risky, disruptive and dangerous. But it’s not cynical. The naive world is one that believes in the basic and goodness of human beings as strong as they believe in the inner corruption of the Great Government. This is an opinion that has almost certainly no reason, but it is good.
The movie makes it great that you are not asked to subscribe to its philosophy, just think about it and consider. This is not a call to get up against your rulers, but a warning about how fear can be used to give too much power to a person or organization. It is an ancient lesson, but the one that repeats often.
It will stick to you after you turn off the TV. You don’t want to think about it; Ideas in this movie are too dangerous, but you will have to do it. V is so powerful. Once you have seen it, you can’t avoid it.
