My philosophy with fiction is that every story is a horror story until it’s not. The horror as a genre term is often overwhelmed or directly prejudice, which commentators who actually do not respect it. So you will still hear a frivolous debate on “is Lamb silence Horror movie? Are Jaw Horror movie? “When this type of examples always end with the same answer from anyone who understands narration. Of course, this is horror.”
This perspective has made me see stories like horrors that others may not. It was in this way that I put the dissertation teasing in this article in the title: To kill Mockingbird There is a horror story. More up to my special argument, To kill Mockingbird There is a horror movie.
Let’s talk about black horror

Recently I wrote a review for one of my favorite movie documentaries, Horror Noire: History of Black HorrorIn the area you can read this review hereBut the reason I raise it is because it is one of the most important documentaries I have watched when I have the much needed opinion on art criticism and analysis. As stated in the movie “Black History is Black Horror” and that’s exactly that comment started to think of me To kill Mockingbird Like a horror movie.
The story of To kill Mockingbird Eventually, focuses around Tom Robinson, a black man accused of attacking a white woman. As shown in both Harper Lee’s novel and Robert Mulligan, we know that Tom is innocent. But he is declared guilty of racial bias and is shot when he tries to escape.
Although IMDB has genres such as “legitimate drama” and “period drama” on its page To kill MockingbirdI see nothing but horror by depicting an innocent black man who is tracked in an unfair judgment. There is even a cooling scene in which Atticus Finch, the moral center, must protect Tom’s Cameras at night, fearing the city dweller who will come to kill him before the trial.
But, I’ll be completely honest with you and say that the black horror part To kill Mockingbird Isn’t my strongest argument about the status of its horror movie. No, I have the whole ammunition I need thanks to Boo Radley.
Monster next to

The main factor in the story To kill Mockingbird is the terrible Arthur Boo Radlie’s figure, Scout Finch’s main neighbor. Boo is considered a local monster that no one ever sees. Of course, BOO is used as a metaphor to not understand another person because they are different from you. This is a classic way to talk about prejudice in the context of racial and in a broader humane way.
But, there’s a classic horror element To kill Mockingbird Because people who we think are monsters are not the real villain. Bob Evel, an intoxicated racist, who is the real culprit by the attack on his daughter, eventually attacking a scout and her brother Jam. And who should be one to save them? Why, it’s a monster next to Boo Radley.
I feel Guillermo del Toro would be the only director of modern To kill Mockingbird And emphasize the elements of its horror films in a way that the audience would “get it”. In many ways, To kill Mockingbird There is also a noir story because this genre is about the darkness of the seeds that shoot in the center of the so -called civilized society. I look Nightmare and think, “Yes, I want him to do with To kill Mockingbird.
Horror rather than drama

I hate the genre “drama” because it is not a genre. Drama is a characteristic motivation related to the construction of narrative art. “Drama” is just a way to say that it will be a movie about ordinary people talking in the rooms. Instead of giving it a drama loving label, To kill Mockingbird It should be seen as a historic horror of noir film about monsters we still deal with today.
I love To kill Mockingbird As a novel and maybe even more like a movie. So, I will continue to call it a horror movie because it is one.
