Well Roger Gibns | Cricket web

The world of cricket and the glousisture cricket is a poor place after Roger Gibns passed last week of the age of 80. County Club President Roger’s biggest legacy between 2019 and 2022 will be the biggest legacy, I have no doubt, I have no doubt, continuous success Glostershire CCC Heritage Trust.

The trust is a charity dedicated to the protection of the country’s history and was established in 2014. Roger was one of the trustees in the beginning and later when the museum and education centers were opened at County’s Navil Road headquarters in Bristol.

A few years ago I met Roger and kept me up to date with the occasional publications of the museum at various email exchange. Roger himself was the best writer of them, and even though he has no whole book in my collection, his monographs have been added to some of the most welcome in recent years.

It can be understood that this is possible and perhaps Roger had some help in the design and the booklet was out, but his heart had an attractive material. In each case, the monographs were diligently researched and gave examples of less known aspects of glossisture cricket, as Roger also made a great spelling in addition to getting a thorough information about his subjects.

He started 2015 In memoryTributes to glousester cricketers who made the final sacrifice for their country in World War I. One of them was re -printed in 2019 with three more. Monographs related to a rarely reliable story of India’s proposed tour in 36 3636/3737, Tour that never??

The other two were 2019 titles Delays in infectionThe West of England XI reports of the creation and playing records, were played in the summer of 1944 and 1945 in the warrior of 1945 and Deceased?? The latter title is that I believe that if not for Roger, the light of the day would have never been seen. The story of his invention is that for many years, the historians of the game, the Archivest and the Statistian identified the man who did three unknown performances for the Glostershire during the Victorian period.

And that was, three years till 2022, when four more titles from Roger’s cottage industry began to appear. Related to CB Grace WG the youngest son Charles Butler Grace, who appeared on four occasions in the first -class game, was a memory of the legendary boy. George PayPal: Cricketer and CountryIt was like dealing with a deceased man, at the end of the twentieth century, a man who had occasionally played for a glousistaire had a look that had an interesting back story.

The other two 2022 titles are a glimpse of social and cricketing history. Home Home: Gloster Cricket Week 1943 Seen the entertainment of a holiday time available to people of glousistshire during the war and Bristol Cricket Challenge Cup Contest 1888-1892 The Victorian Club Game is restructured in the end, a fall knock out cup.

The situation in which I hoped for another three years would have seen another frame from Roger, but unfortunately, it seems that the death was over without the titles at the time of preparation. If I sincerely hope that his colleagues in the Heritage Trust are advanced enough to enable them to complete the project and print them.

Also historian Roger was also a collector but I have been told that unlike some cricket tragedy, he was better interested in cricket. In the last few days, he has been a business in the business with a full tribute to the best company and an excellent racomonier. Like last November, I met him once last November at an event organized by Stephen Dulke in the Lansdown Cricket Club. It was a very enjoyable event for me, meeting many people with whom I just had a correspondence via email. At one point Roger came to me, apologized for interrupting, but he said he wanted to introduce himself and he said that we could speak later. Unfortunately, we never, and never will never happen, but even in that brief meeting, he enhanced the bonoma, good jokes and knowledge. The picture with him is signing some of his monographs Border books’ Showroom, It captures very well.
